Notifications and deep links

When something happens to a task you care about — you are assigned work, a task you watch changes, a comment lands — VNCtask tells you, and the notice opens the exact task.

The bell in the top bar shows an unread count. Open it for the list of recent notifications. Each row tells you the type and title, with a mark read action, and — for anything about a task — an action that opens that task. Select a task notification and the task’s detail drawer opens on the list.

A task notification carries a deep link — an address for the task. That means:

  • In the app, selecting the notification opens the task.
  • On the desktop app, the operating-system notification and the tray list open the task too (see Use the desktop app).
  • Shared links use the same address, so pasting it into a message opens the same task for a colleague.

The link names the task, never a page; if the task is filtered out of your current view, opening the link still brings it up.

Your account menu has a Notifications entry that opens the shared Notification Center. It gathers notifications from across VNClagoon (tasks, chat, channels, mail and more) into one list, newest first, with an All / per-app filter and a mark all read action. A task row here deep-links to its task just like the in-app bell.

Notifications are personal and scoped to you: you see the ones addressed to you (a task you own, watch, or were mentioned in). Access follows the task’s own visibility, so a notification never reveals work you are not allowed to see.

Applies to VNClagoon 2026.1 and later. Last reviewed on 11 October 2026.
