Use the desktop app
VNCchannels has a desktop app for Windows, macOS and Linux. It gives you a dedicated window and channel notifications that arrive in your operating system, so you see them even when the app is behind other windows.
Get and install it
Section titled “Get and install it”- Sign in to your VNClagoon portal and open Clients.
- Find VNCchannels and select the download for your platform.
- Install the app and open it.
- Sign in — the desktop app uses the same suite sign-in, so there is nothing extra to configure.
Your channels and settings are the same as in the browser; the desktop app is another way in, not a separate account.

Channel notifications in your operating system
Section titled “Channel notifications in your operating system”When a mention, comment or invitation arrives, the desktop app raises an operating-system notification with a short body. Selecting it opens VNCchannels on the topic it refers to.
Notifications come from your organization’s own push service, so they work while the app runs without you keeping the window open.
Updates
Section titled “Updates”The desktop app checks for a new version when it starts, every hour while it runs, and again when you bring the window to the front or wake the computer. A new version is never installed without asking.
To check by hand, select Software updates in the top bar (desktop build only). It shows the state of the check and offers Check for updates and Install and restart.
The full behaviour — the three choices, being asked once per version, and what happens when a build is ready — is the same for every VNClagoon desktop app and is described once in Updates in the desktop apps.
