Move or copy a file
Move a file or folder to another folder, or copy it and leave the original where it is.
Move one item
Section titled “Move one item”- In the file list, find the file or folder.
- Open its ⋯ menu and select Move.
- In the folder picker, pick the destination. The path at the top of the picker shows where you are; Up moves one level back and My files returns to the top.
- Select Move.
The item disappears from the old folder and appears in the new one. A folder cannot be moved into itself.
Copy one item
Section titled “Copy one item”- Open the file’s ⋯ menu and select Copy.
- Pick the destination folder the same way.
- Select Copy.
The copy keeps the original name. A folder cannot be copied into itself, and a file owned by another app cannot be copied.
Move or copy several items
Section titled “Move or copy several items”- Tick the checkbox on each item.
- Use Move or Copy in the selection toolbar.
- Pick the destination folder and confirm.
Each item is reported separately at the end: how many moved, how many were already there, and how many failed.
Find the destination folder
Section titled “Find the destination folder”Type in the picker’s search box to filter the folder list by name. New folder creates a folder inside the one you are currently in, without leaving the dialog.
Result
Section titled “Result”The items are in the destination folder. A move made while you are offline is kept and syncs when you are back online. A copy needs a connection: with no connection, copy stops and tells you so, and the original is left untouched.
