Send files by email

Send a file from VNCfiles without downloading it first. VNCmail opens with the files attached, so you add the recipients and send. The files stay in VNCfiles; nothing is copied until you send the message.

  1. Open the file’s ⋯ menu and select Send by email….
  2. Optionally enter a recipient in To. You can leave it empty and add recipients in VNCmail instead.
  3. Check the Subject. It defaults to the file name.
  4. Select Compose in VNCmail.
  1. Tick the checkbox on each file.
  2. Select Send by email… in the selection toolbar.
  3. Optionally set To and the Subject - it defaults to the number of files.
  4. Select Compose in VNCmail.

Up to eight files are listed in the dialog; the rest are summarised as +n more. They are all attached.

VNCmail opens in a new tab, in the composer, with the files attached. VNCfiles shows Opened in VNCmail - add recipients and send.

Very large selections are refused: if the launch would be too long for a browser address, split the files into smaller batches.

Applies to VNClagoon 2026.1 and later. Last reviewed on 18 October 2026.
